There are many little things that we can do each and every day to make ourselves, and those around us, happier.
Happiness isn’t alway about the big things, but often, our happiness is controlled by the little things in our lives.
Sometimes all it takes is 5 minutes to turn your whole day around.
Be mindful, and use those 5 minutes wisely.
Use them to brighten your day.
Here are 12 ways you can be happier in 5 minutes:
1. Listen to your favorite song.
There isn’t much that some good tunes can’t help make better.
We all have our favorite happy songs, the ones that make us dance around when nobody is looking.
Put on your song and do a little dance.
It won’t fix your problems, but it will fix your mood.
2. Go Outside
Sometimes all we need is just a little fresh air.
To hear the birds chirping, feel the wind blowing.
Witness that the world is bigger than your problems.
Despite your worries, the world is still a beautiful place.
Find that beauty, and you will find your happiness.
Write 3 things you are thankful for today.
They can be big things, like your family and friends.
Or small, like your delicious lunch.
There is always something to be happy about.
4. Boost your health.
Eat something healthy.
Some veggies, fruit, protein.
See the difference your body will feel after a meal so fresh.
Think of all the things you can do when you feel energized and great!
5. Do a little exercise.
For only 5 minutes, take a mini jog around the block.
Or do some light stretching.
Get those endorphins up and your brain will love you for it.
6. Leave somebody a note.
Write somebody a happy note and leave it for them to find.
Tell them they are beautiful, or that they make you smile.
The excitement of making somebody else happy will increase your mood by a mile.
7. Learn something new.
Watch a mini youtube video on something that interests you, or read about something exciting.
Learn about a new found planet, or the animal kingdom.
We are all still children at heart.
Get excited about something cool.
8. Mix it up!
Do something a little differently today.
Walk down a different street, sit in a different seat, order something new.
Life is an adventure when we mix it up sometimes.
9. Make a plan.
Having something to look forward to is so exciting!
Make a plan, for yourself or with a friend.
It can be small like a coffee date, or even a trip.
You are the creator of your own happiness.
Create a plan. Be happy.
10. Treat yourself.
Treat yourself to something you love.
Sometimes all we need is a little boost to get us out of our rut.
Don’t wait for the world to give you the boost, give it to yourself.
11. Help somebody.
Do a nice thing for somebody else.
Help them carry something. Or clean up after them.
Their gratitude will surely make you smile.
Smile, smile, smile!
Sit down and smile for just 5 minutes.
There is a reason monks practice smiling meditations, because they actually work!
Think about something or someone you love, and just smile.
Your body is very responsive, and when your face is happy, your brain will follow.
