Set Goals

Establish your intentions to get what you want in life.

Assignment Review

Yesterday we learned about the importance that “choice” plays in setting your goals to reflect the kind of person you want to be.

Life is all about the choices we make. We can choose to have goals that better us, or we can lead over lives without goals and let our circumstances shape us.

Do not let yourself be a by product of your circumstances. Do not believe that you do not have choices in your life.

You always have the choice to make goals for yourself, you just need the motivation to follow through with them.

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”

Goal setting is actually very scientific. Your mind is the thing that helps you achieve your goals.

Here is how it works:

The Conscious and Subconscious.

Our mind is made up of two parts, the conscious and the subconscious. Our conscious mind is the compartment that takes in information from all of our senses. It takes in the information, analyzes it, and decides whether it is true or false, positive or negative.

Our subconscious mind on the other hand, is the part that stores this data and turns it into our character and creates it to form our habits.

Our Subconscious acts like a machine.

Our subconscious operates like a machine, it does not think, instead, it just carries out the orders from our conscious. Whatever our conscious feeds to our subconscious, it accepts as true and puts it into action.

You can either program your Subconscious, or let it be programed.

As our subconscious is programmed by what is in our conscious, we have the ability to determine what gets programmed by controlling our conscious mind. We can do this through affirmations, and repetition.

If we fill our conscious mind with positive affirmations, they will get transferred into our subconscious mind as truth, and that part of our mind will put that positivity into action, but this also works vice versa.

When we don’t consciously affirm positivity, our mind takes in anything that is around us, the good and the bad.

Our Subconscious is built on repetition.

As I said before, our subconscious is based on repetition. Whatever we repeat every day, our subconscious deems it as true and it guides everything in us to achieve that goal, including our thoughts and our actions.

How this applies to Goal Setting.

When we have a goal, and we positively affirm to our conscious mind that we will succeed in that goal, it will transfer this command over to our subconscious, which will set our thoughts and our actions into a path of achieving this goal.

On the other hand, if we have a goal, and we tell ourselves “It’s too hard” or “ill never achieve it”, then that will be programmed into our subconscious as the truth, and our actions will follow in that path of never achieving it.

The most important part of goal setting, is positively affirming every single day that you will achieve your goal.
