Visualization is a key component of achieving our goals because it allows us to see the end result, through a series of small tasks. The fear we create in our minds is our biggest opponent in reaching our goals, visualization is the process of diminishing that fear and making our dreams our reality both physically and mentally.

In Psycho-Cybernetics study conducted by a Dr. Maltz showed the remarkable results of the power of visualization. The experiment had subjects divided into 3 groups.

All groups were tested twice in free throw accuracy, once at the beginning of the experiment, and once at the conclusion. Group A physically practiced free throws for 20 days. Group B did not practice at all. Group C used deeply relaxed states of visualization where they imaged themselves practicing free throws.

What were the results you ask? Group A improved accuracy by 24%. Group B had no improvement. Group C ( the visualizers) improved their accuracy by a remarkable 23%. Amazingly, mental practice yielded results almost identical to physical practice.

We humans are creatures of habit. One majorly flawed habit most of us have is that we put our dreams and goals on hold. We keep them at a distance from us because we are more scared of the failure of not succeeding in them, than ever going forward with them at all.

One major reason we are so scared of them, is because we only think of the destination and how far away it is, instead of the little steps we have to take in order to get there.

Once we realize through visualization that our long journey is just a combination of small steps, we can finally find the confidence to chase after our goals.
